Now we've circled around from Martins Creek Road and we're out on Giles Hollow Road. Instead of the cozy valley feeling, now there's rolling hills with the mountains visible off in the distance. Although this one ain't too little, I've seen lots of cute little calves, even a baby horse (is the correct term a foal?), and even baby sheep. Springtime is a time of celebrating life itself, a fresh renewal.

We used to play in Martins creek many yrs. ago. My grandma lived at the corner by the bridge where you turn and go across the hill to Balls chapel. We waded in the creek and caught minnows and other things,so this brings back great memories of probably 60 yrs ago.
Thank you for the nice comment. I'm going to post two house photos - maybe one of them was your grandma's house.
I was excited to have come across this posting and blog...my great grandparents, then my grandparents, and also my father when he was a child lived on Giles Hollow Road. Their house may be one of the empty ones, we still own it and return to it as often as possible. Do you happen to have any more pictures of the house you were speaking of in the blog?
Thank you for the comment. I don't have any photos of houses on Giles Hollow Road. The one we were talking about on the blog is on the corner of Martins Creek and Balls Chapel. I will, however, post a another photo or two taken on Giles Hollow Road, mostly cows, purty pictures though.
I love this photo, have looked at many times but didn't realize that I could comment. This was actually taken of my mom and dad's farm (and calf). My 10 year old daughter came up one day and said "Grann,I was looking at Rose Hill on the internet and there are pictures of your farm on here." We were all pleasantly surprised. I still live just down the road and would never want to move.
